Meg Mallon
Meg Mallon grew up in Birmingham, MI and attended Mercy High School in
Farmington Hills. She won the Women’s Club Championship at Edgewood CC
at age of 16 and 17. In 1983 she won the Michigan Women’s Amateur and
the Women’s District Golf Association Match Play Championship. Meg
attended Ohio State University and won All Big Ten Honors in 1984 and
1985. She finished 2nd in the Big Ten Championship in 1985.
Meg has won 13 LPGA events, including three major championships. She
needs one victory – the Nabisco Championship – to complete her career
LPGA Grand Slam. She won the US Women’s Open and the LPGA Championship
in 1991, becoming one of only five women to win both in the same year. She
added a third jewel in 2000 by winning the du Maurier Classic. She has
been a member of the US Solheim Cup Team a consecutive six times since
1992.
Meg was elected to the Ohio State University Athletic Hall of Fame in
1996 and in 1999, she received the William and Mousie Powell Award for the
LPGA member who, in the opinion of her playing peers, by her behavior and
deeds best exemplifies the spirit, ideals, ad values of the LPGA. In 2000,
she was recognized by the LPGA as one of the top 50 players and teachers.
