Michigan Golf Hall of Fame Inductees  

Melvin "Bud" Stevens

Bud Stevens started his illustrious golf career as a caddie at Plum Hollow Golf Club in 1943 at age 9. He became a good junior player and won several youth tournaments including 3 Michigan Caddie Championships and the Michigan High School Title.

He was awarded the Chick Evans Caddie Scholarship to the University of Michigan where he lettered in golf and had a top 10 finish in the Big Ten Championship finishing 8th. He then transferred to MSU for his final two years and earned a degree in accounting.

After college, he played in many tournaments and won the Michigan Amateur 3 times, the GAM Championship 6 times, the Michigan Medal Play 1 time, and was runner up in 1962 in the Western Amateur at Orchard Lake CC.

He qualified for 13 USGA Championships including 5 Amateurs, 4 Opens, 1 Senior Open and 3 Senior Amateurs. His best USGA Tournament was the 1988 USGA Senior Amateur where he was runner up.
