Michigan Golf Hall of Fame Inductees
Wiffi Smith Wiffi Smith had already established herself as a leading amateur when she arrived in Michigan in 1955, having won the Tam O’Shanter World Tournament and the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship. She won the Michigan Amateur and two Detroit District titles in addition to capturing the North and South, All-American Open, the Doherty, Trans-Mississippi, British Women’s Open Amateur, French Women’s Open Amateur and Titleholders, while living in St. Clair. When she turned professional, Wiffi won nine LPGA titles before an injury forced her to retire from competition. Elected to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame in 1987. |
